Cadillac Repair: 1995 sedandeville 4.9 wont start, voltmeter, alternator

I just bought a 1995 sedan deville drove it home it was fine next day drove it turned it off than immediatly tried to restart and it wouldnt. Next day checked fuses and it was the ignition changed finally started but out of wack also now my information center doesnt light up and the engine just dies and to get it to start havee to hold open the carbs and keep pattin gas than loses power and battery dies and note every time I have to restart i have to jump it please somebody tell me whats going on....

I had a difficult time understanding your question, but reviewing it again, I think I can give you some ideas. The reason apparently the car was sold was because of a problem.

It sounds like the alternator is defective. You need to put a voltmeter on your battery after the jumpers are remove. If you are seeing less than 14.2 volts the alternator is the source of your problems.
