Cadillac Repair: 1988 Cadillac Deville digital fuel gauge, check fuse, fuel gauge

Question
QUESTION: My digital fuel gauge is flashing the letter "E" and I can not make it go away. This started after having the battery disconnected for several hours. I have added fuel to the tank, driven the car for about an hour and a 1/2, pressed the reset button on the digital fuel cluster with the ignition in the on position as well as with the car running, and removed the fuse & put it back in several times, all with no luck. I'm stumped...any & all help/suggestions would be great! THANK YOU!

ANSWER: IS or HAS the CHECK ENGINE light ever illuminated on the dash prior to this problem ?.

Is the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT on now with the engine running ?.

Which fuse did you check ?.

QUESTION: No, the check engine light has not come on nor is it on now with or without the engine running. I checked fuse #7 that the climate control & fuel cluster run through. I have NOT tried disconnecting the battery for several minutes & then hooking it back up. I was hoping by removing the fuse & re-installing it, it would duplicate the battery being removed.

ANSWER: check fuse # 16 to see if it is blown and that it has continuity.

QUESTION: You were absolutely right; it was blown! Now I know why they call you the experts! Thank you so much! After replacing the fuse I ran a diagnostic with the ignition ON, but the car not running. It spit out an F32 error. I have yet to locate a website that covers all the error codes for that year Cadillac (1988). Can you tell me what that error code is or give me a website I can go to & look it up myself? Thank you again for your time & efforts.

Answer
What you need to do is send your request to: onlineautohelp@msn.com    and he will provide you with HOW to CLEAR (erase) this F32 code from the computer via the climate control panel.

Disconnecting the battery and or pulling fuses will NOT clear (erase) the code. It will only ADD an additional code.
