Cadillac Repair: Transmission Pressure Solenoid, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
I recently did a diagnostic check to my 95 Cadillac sts. And tha code it threw was a 76 which was the motor force. My mechanic said Transmission Pressure Solenoid was the problem. I just would like to know what i would have to buy.. just the solenoid and if its an internal or external tranni problem. and a rough estimate...? =[

Answer
The TRANSAXLE PRESSURE CONTROL SOLENOID (TCPS) is located behind the side cover of the transmission which is located where the drivers axle shaft from the drivers tire & wheel goes into the transmission. What needs to be done is to partially remove the transmission and totally remove the drivers axle assembly from the vehicle and the side cover of the transmission removed in order to access and replace the TCPS.

This is a big job and runs approximately $800.00 or more depending upon WHO does this solenoid replacement.

I would STRONGLY suggest that you also replace the following components while you have the side cover off:

Transaxle input speed sensor.
Transaxle temperature sensor.
Shift solenoids A & B.
Torque Converter Clutch solenoid (TCC).
