Cadillac Repair: Allante boot well, allante parts, plastic boots

Hello, I have a 89 allante that has a cracked and broken boot well.  Is this hard  to replace?  There are larger springs that need to be disconnected I believe.  Just wondering if this is something I can do myself or is a visit to a body shop in order?

Hello,

It's time to go to the b.s.or dealer. I have owned a few and been exposed to many Allantes. Never saw the problem you are referring to. I have seen the plastic boots break. I have seen twisted tracks and broken rollers. I have never seen a cracked boot well though.

In fact I don't know how it could crack because the only thing that sits in the well is the top which poses very little wieght.

If you google Allante parts, you should be able to find the part and advice how to change it. I might be wrong, but try allantsource.com.
