QuestionQUESTION: hi my name is edgar and i have a 1983 cadillac coupe deville, and my driver side seat motor isnt working, the passenger one is working fine but it only goes forward and backward i dont know what it is and i dont want to buy parts not knowing what it is. also when i start the car sometimes, it shuts off on me, i have to keep my foot on the gas pedal and as soon as it turns on i slowly remove my foot from the pedal and its fine. what could that be? i use this car daily, please help me i would highly appriciate it. thank you.
ANSWER: If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL VOLT/OHM METER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. QUESTION: thanks for the quick response, my check engine light came on and i checked the codes for them, i just dont know what the mean, here are the codes that apeared, -1.8.8 this one flashed 3 times, 26 this one flashed twice, 53 this one flashed twice, 13 this one flashed twice, 27 this one flashed twice, 52 this one flashed twice as well, and finally .7.0 this one flashed once. please let me know what these mean as i dont have a clue. thank you for your help and i highly appriciate it.
Answer26 = shorted throttle switch.
53 = distributor fault.
13 = Faulty oxygen sensor.
27 = Open throttle switch.
52 = vehicle battery was disconnected.
.7.0 is just the end of the codes sequence and is NOT a code.
