Cadillac Repair: electrical-BCM, caddlic, volt ohm meter

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1991 Caddlic Deville 4.9. The car would not start or crank. I by-passed the anti-thieft and put a new battery in, now the car starts and runs good. The fuel data and climate control are blank, nothing shows up. I think all other electrical compotents are working. I replaced the BCM (reman)turned the key on and both came on.GREAT! While reassembling the dash, with key on and shift lever down to acess dash, the fuel data and climate controll went blank again(probally 15 minutes).Lost money, where do I go from here? I did notice a odd smell inside the car while reassembling.Somthing burning out?

ANSWER: I have been out of town, Do you still need help ?.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL VOLT/OHM METER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
