QuestionQUESTION: I have replaced the dash before due to the temp controls no longer working (display and settings didnt work). This is a whole new level of strangeness. No dash (not entirely true... idiot lights work), no spedo, tach, fuel or digital portions. This all happened when my son tried to roll the drivers window down... the trans also is not working right, lost first gear and O/D only 2nd and 3rd remain... and you have to manually shift. Any ideas? This one kind of stumped me...

What work or diagnostics of ANYKIND WHAT-SO-EVER have been performed on the vehicle trying to fix this problem ?.

QUESTION: The check engine light was not on, however is on now. I am unable to pull codes as the display is no longer working. The car did have an issue with a short (my guess... the alternator, or more specifically the rectifier), I have verified that the ground strap at the starter is sill in good shape, i checked all of the fuses under the plastic cover on the inner fender well, as I have had corrosion issues before which caused the dash to go out. I just cant imagine why the windows quit working, and caused the dash to go out. That is pretty much the extent of my troubleshooting to date.
