Cadillac Repair: 1992 caddy eldorado starting problem, diagnostic mode, civilian vehicles

Question
QUESTION: I just got a 1992 caddy eldorado from a friend of mine. She put a new 4.9L engine in it about a year ago and it has run fine. She had a wicked stereo system put into it about 9 months ago and it still ran fine. She says in April they were driving and it sputtered and jerked a little, then died coasting into their driveway (lucky for them). Her hubby put new plugs in it, gapped them at .60 (IAW the data plate under the hood). He also changed the wires, fuel filter, brand new battery, and removed every fuse and replaced with brand new. I recently got it from them fairly cheap (not running) and followed up on all he'd done. I verified all his work and it was right. Thinking it's the fuel pump, i dropped the tank and replaced the pump. I hear the WHIRRING sound on startup, but it cranks and won't start. I replaced the cap, rotor, and ignition control module. I looked inside the valve cover and I see the valves moving, so it's not a broken timing chain. I've removed a spark plug and grounded it out and I see a strong, consistent blue/yellow spark. I can't run diagnostics because it kills the battery trying to crank it. I'm wondering if the TPS may keep it from starting up. For it to just sputter and die on him leads me to believe it's not a PASS-KEY or security issue, it was running fine before. I'm a mechanic in the ARMY over 18 years now and i've done alot of work on civilian vehicles, but i'm getting stumped lately...

ANSWER: Put a battery charger on it and you can run a diagnostics to check for fault CODES via the CLIMATE CONTROL PANEL. Due to picture limitations on this persons website you need to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
