Cadillac Repair: 1990 cadilac deville, resistance value, devle

Question
I replaced whole steering column to replace ignition key cylinder with a column that had a key I turn car on everything works but won't turn over do I have to reset the computer some how do I have to do something I don't know about to get my devle to crank?

Answer
The original key that you had was specifically coded with a certain resistance value which has to match the same coded resistance as is programmed in the PASS-KEY MODULE.

This new key has a DIFFERENT resistance code that does not match your original PASS-KEY MODULE.

Take your original key and your new key to a locksmith and give him your original key and he will give you a blank key with the same coded resistance.

Next, Give him the key you got with the replacement steering column and he will cut the groves from this key onto the replacement blank key .
