Cadillac Repair: Cadillac northstar engine overheating, cadillac northstar, northstar engine

Question
I have a 98 Cadillac Deville 4.9 northstar engine and for the last month it has been losing water at a fast rate. When I go to work in the money I have to at least put a gallon of water in it and again when I leave work
I work about 25 miles from work when I turn off cAr I don't see any leaks. I don't have any water in my oil or smoke coming from tailpipe. If u have any idea what can be wrong with it it would be very appreciated. I don't have slot of money to fix it so hoping it's something me or my uncle can do
Thanks for listening

Answer
This IS avery very common problem with this engine. What has happened is the steel head bolts have stretched out the aluminum theads in the engine block and this puts combustion chamber pressure into the coolant passages which restricts the flow of coolant.

You must drill out all the engine bolt holes and install steel heli-coils and new head bolts and gaskets to resolve this fault.
