Cadillac Repair: Cadillac Sedan Deville, cadillac sedan deville, fuel filler

Question
I have a 1989 Cadillac Sedan Deville and it ran out of gas. I add gas and now it want start what can I do?

Answer
Hello,

I will assume you mean it won't start. Impossible to determine without seeing the vehicle. The possibility exists that the fuel pump in the tank cavitated sucking air and burned up. You could have lost your prime. This means there may be air between the tank and the fuel delivery.

The first thing you need to do is check to see if the pump is even running. Turn the ignition on, open the fuel filler door and remove the cap. If you can't hear a humming sound, your fuel pump is not running. You need to check the fuse.

All of this can be unrelated to the not starting and could be a different problem.

If you check what I told you and can't get the engine running, you will need a mechanic to physically look at the car.

Good Luck!
