Cadillac Repair: cadillac wont start after changing water pump, cadillac deville, water pump

After changing the water pump on a 99 Cadillac deville the car will not start sometimes. Its like its draining the battery, and if you jump it off it will start. Also when we start the car now sometimes the trunk or gas lid will pop open. The clock and mileage keeps resetting also.

You description of the starting sounds like a bad starter or battery. If it cranks slow warm, the starter could be the culprit. If it won't crank warm and if you have access to the starter with a hammer, hit the case and see if the car starts.

Another possibility of the engine cranking slow when warm could also be because the engine is running very hot. You stated you changed the water pump and you did not say why.
