Cadillac Repair: 96 cadillac wont start., fuse boxes, ground connections

Question
QUESTION: headlights, power seats, flasher, and doom lights work. The whole dash display does not come on;or the radio or the power windows. When i try to turn it over i hear 2 clicks.but i don't hear is the fuel pump.I've check all fuses and ground connections. Please help...

ANSWER: hello,

From your description, this is not an anti-theft problem. If you check all fuse boxes an fuses, you may have a burned up fusible link.

If anti-theft problem, you would not get clicks at starter. If a anti-theft problem, engine will not crank or make any noise.

Answer
Hello,

I do not know the specifics on your car and only can supply a general response. Fusible links are commonly in the main power harness going to the starter or alternator under the hood. If you check the wiring, you can pull on the wires. If the wire stretches like rubber, the link is blown and needs to be replaced. Most parts stores have fusible link in rolls and they can cut a piece of of it.
