Cadillac Repair: 94 Deville Tranny Clunk going into gear when cold, cold question, pressure tests

Question
QUESTION: I'm going to pick up my neighbors 94 Concourse Deville for my sons first car with 125,000 miles. My son used to wash this car when he was younger and always loved it! Seller says tranny was replaced/rebuilt about 1,500 miles ago. Stated after rebuild it will clunk into gear pretty hard on cold starts (in Florida). After it warms it is fine all day long. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have.

Thanks,
Joseph

ANSWER: IS or has the CHECK ENGINE light on the dash ever illuminated ?.

I would NOT purchase this vehicle until you have some pressure tests performed on the transmission OR you may be having to have the trans rebuilt AGAIN.

QUESTION: Unfortunately, the car is not in my possession and is 5 1/2 hours away. The owner is going to have it driven down here to make sure I want it. I think if it makes it down here, that will be the 1st good sign! Sorry I got no info or history! Just trying to do some preliminary homework. I know it' almost impossible to diagnose with the car states away!

Thanks!
Joe

Answer
This car is NOT the most reliable vehicle as it has a very high transmission and engine problems.

Being in the Cadillac Diagnostics & Repair business for over 30 years, I do NOT recommend that you purchase this vehicle as you will encounter major problems, Which is most likely WHY the other guy is selling it.
