Cadillac Repair: Electrical Problem, cadillac deville, auto parts store

Question
Hello,

My friend bought a 1995 Cadillac Deville Concours. He put a brand new battery in the car, and the battery is always drained. He thought that it was the alternator, and he brought the car to a garage, and he was told, that it had nothing to do with the alternator, since the car starts. He was told that it had to do with electrical problem. Would you have any idea what it would be...the car starts no problems, but when he turns on the lights or the heather, or anything els, it drains the battery and the car doesn't start anymore, unless he gets a boost.

Answer
new batteries never come fully charged. You need to put the battery on a slow charge overnight to fully charge the battery.

Next we need to test the battery to see if there is an abnormal drain on the battery when the car is sitting with the engine OFF.

There is also the possibility that you have a bad battery of which we can check using a hydrometer to test each cell of the battery. You can purchase a hydrometr for about $5.00 at any auto parts store.
