Cadillac Repair: leaky escalade esv., windshield repair, plastic vents

Question
QUESTION: My 2004 escl. esv. leaks on the passenger side floor pretty bad whenever it rains. I can't tell if it from the sunroof or windshield. I called the dealer and i was told that it would be shopped out to a windshield repair place. I took it there and they told me that it wasn't the windshield. It doesn't fog up and there are no cracks or chips in it. The roof of the interior is not wet or damp whenever it rains so i don't think that the sunroof is leaking. I removed the panel from under the passenger side feet area and found it to be soaked all around the wiring area and it gets under the carpet and starts to smell. i have an exteded warranty and they tell me that sort of problem won't be covered. To me, it seems like a manufacturing problem and should be taken care of by the company. But what do I know? I don't get paid to think! Someone please help!!!

ANSWER: Are you POSITIVE that it is WATER and NOT anti-freeze ?. Anti-freeze has a sweet smell to it and a bitter taste if you put a dab on your tongue. It won't hurt you to put a little on your tongue.

let me know if it's water or anti-freeze.

QUESTION: i'd have to say i'm about 98% sure its water. A couple of weeks ago I ran the hose over the vehicle for a while and thats when i checked the passenger area and it was all wet. I have a towel shoved up there at the moment and when i pulled it out the other day after it rained it was wet. No discolour or sweet smell. Only a stinky musty-smell when it rains. Thank you for the reply also. D

Answer
What you can do is to duct tape over the black plastic vents when you open the door where the door lock catch is at on all the doors and then turn ON the ignition key and put the heater blower motor on high speed and shut all the doors and make up a very soapy solution of water and dishsoap and put the soapy solution in a windex spray bottle and spray all along the windshield and sun roof and you will see the bubbles appaering where the leak is at.

Do NOT forget to remove the REMOVE the duct tape from the door vents when your done.
