Cadillac Repair: 1997 Seville STS Dash Cluster replacement, seville sts, car options

Question
I have a 1997 Seville STS and purchased a used dash cluster for it (due to a bad gauge in it)from a 1996 seville after disconnecting the battery and pulling the fuses under the hood and in the truck and installing the used cluster the car would not start. Cluster read anti theft. Put the old one back in and the car runs fine.
what else do i need to do to make the used one work ?
Thanks

Answer
Because each cluster has a micro-processor chip with all the vehicles specific information such as the vehicle information number (VIN) and other specific car options and must be re-programmed by an cluster repair facility.

You can pull the gage from the used cluster and put it in your original cluster and resolve your problem.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
