Cadillac Repair: 1995 cadillac stalls, computer answer, word history

QUESTION: my 1995 deville, service engine soon comes on and off and at times, not daily, the engine just turns off with no warning. It starts up o.k. Told it needs a new computer

ANSWER: Do you know how to retrieve the CODES from the computer ?.

If NOT,

1. Turn ignition switch to the ON position but do NOT start the engine.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER buttons on the climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them. On the fuel data display you will see CODES in the form of LETTERS & NUMBERS followed by the word History or Current for EACH code that displays.

3. When the display stops at .70 OR PCM turn OFF the ignition switch.

4. Tell me what CODES you get and if the code or codes are either History or Current.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need a DIGITAL MULTIMETER, Simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
