Cadillac Repair: speedometer problem, fuel milage, diagnostic scanner

i have a 1994 cadillac deville and the speedometer quits working.it starts back then quits agin. it is digital, but the fuel milage and the rest works. when the speedometer quits it seems that the transmission gets stuck in gear. when it starts working agin the trans. shifts gears. what could be wrong?

I am not real familiar with such diagnoses, but from what you describe it sounds like a transmission computer problem. Call around and find a repair facility that can hook the computer to a diagnostic scanner for codes. You may have a code in the computer that will tell you the problem.
