Cadillac Repair: 89 Cadillac DeVille Service Engine Light, cadillac deville, diagnostic connector

Question
QUESTION: I plug into the ECM and came up with a UART 47 Link Problem Code, what does this code mean? Should the BCM still be replaced?  Thank you Joel

ANSWER: WHY did you replace the ECM in the first place ?.

If you were told to replace BOTH the ECM and the BCM then you replace BOTH before you turn ON the ignition key.

I hope you have not fried the new ECM.

You were told to replace the BCM, NOT the ECM.

QUESTION: I didn't replace anything yet, I plugged a Snap On scanner into the ECM and it came up with this code.UART 47 Link Problem, what doe this mean? If I replace the BCM will it solve my problem?
Thank you Joel

Answer
You CAN'T plug a scanner directly into the ECM. You plugged it into the black plastic DIAGNOSTIC CONNECTOR under the dash.

I originally told you to replace the BCM computer because of the -c or -d letters appearing on the display screens.

NOWHERE did I tell you to put a scanner on the system.

If you do not want to follow my explicit directives and keep doing your own test procedures which I did NOT tell you to do, Find someone else to help you.

I told you to replace the BCM COMPUTER which will most likely come with instructions on removing the PROM from your old BCM and install it into the new BCM.

I apologize for being so BLUNT, But if you keep fooling around your going to cause other problems.
