Cadillac Repair: no actual millage in cluster, cylinder head gasket, digital speedometer

QUESTION: just replaced cylinder head gasket in my 1992 cadillac sedan deville 4.9 port f/i after i connect all wires there's no millage nor trip millage in cluster what would be the problem?

ANSWER: Is the speedometer the old style needle type (analog) or the newer (digital) style and does the speedometer wok ?.

Is the mileage visable  but just does not increase or is the display blank ?.

QUESTION: is the new digital style,if i drive it it'll  show mph but mileage is not visible neither trip mileage instead it said error on mileage display . otherwise eveything else works fine ,what could be the problem?

Answer
If the digital speedometer is working correctly but the odometer and trip mileage do NOT operate and display an ERROR message this is a fault in the speedometer cluster assembly which must be sent out for repair thru your local Cadillac parts department.

You can self remove the cluster and hand carry it into the parts department.

It is nothing that you did, It is just a coincidence that the micro-chip blew for the odometer and trip meter display. It happens.
