QUESTION: Okay, I read from one of your past answers on how to go about getting to the codes but am not sure where to look for the answers.
I have a digital speedometer, I turned the switch to the on position but did not start the engine, then I simultaneously pushed and held the Off and Warmer buttons for 3 seconds and released them, but from there nothing changed nor did I see any readings come across the display. I must be doing something wrong, can you help?

AnswerWhat you need to do is CLEAR (erase) this code I039 history from the computer. drive the vehicle and see if any codes come back as either history or current.
To CLEAR the I039 code:
1. Re-enter diagnostics and when the display stops at PCM, Push and release the LO button and you will see IPC?.
2. Push and release the HI button and you will see DATA?
3. Keep pushing and releasing the LO button until you see CLEAR CODES? on the fuel data display.
4. Push and release the HI button and you will see CODES CLEAR.
5. Wait 3 seconds and turn OFF the ignition switch.
6. Wait 30 seconds and re-enter diagnostics via the OFF and WARMER and the code should be gone and all you will see is PCM?.
7. Turn OFF ignition switch.
Now, drive the car and see if the check engine light illuminates and you can also re-enter diagnostics to make sure that I039 is gone.
If any codes re-appear as either history or Current, Let me know.
