Hi,

Recently, the fuel gauge on my 2002 Cadillac Deville has not been working properly.  When the gas tank is near empty, I noticed that the gauge will "jump" up and down to half full, completely full or even to empty.  That does not happen when the gas tank is filled with gas, only when near empty.  Can you tell me what might be wrong with it so I can get it repaired?  I don't always keep track of the last time I put gas in the car and I don't want to get stuck on the highways with no gas.

Sounds like a fault in the wiring oon the fuel meter in the fuel tank and the fuel meter will need to be replaced.

If you are mechanicaly inclined or know of someone who is, You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
