Cadillac Repair: 2000 Cadillac Deville, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
Our SES light is on, there is approx. 160,000 miles on the car.  When you accelerate quickly the car makes a chattering sound.  The codes that it gave us were P0741 and P0440.  We know the P0440 code has to do with the EVAP.  I've been reading about the P0741, saying it could be the TCC Sol. What causes this to happen and do you think this could be the problem?

Answer
When these codes display they also display with the word HISTORY or CURRENT. Which codes are HISTORY and which codes are CURRENT ?.

Your problem is most likely the P0741 could whereas the TCC (Torque Converter Clutch) solenoid is faulty causing the over drive to kick in and out.

Have you had ANY work of anykind performed on the vehicle lately ?.
