Question1991 Cadillac Eldorado 4.9L 97k.I did not explain correctly, car always had rough idle when stopped for instance at a traffic light, I tuned car up, plug, cap, wires, timing, still had rough idle, cleaned out carburetor, found one side throttle tube was completely filled with carbon, cleaned out thoroughly, still had rough idle.
Now their where not any codes in the ECM, I wanted to check the voltage at the TPS so I unplugged it
hooked a volt meter with just the key turned on, got 5v from gnd to ???? and .50 for gnd to sig, and if you raise the throttle slowly should be smooth to 5v when fully opened, which I could not get a reading pushing the throttle open by the ISC. (is that where I should be opening the throttle?)
Connected TPS connector back and battery then ISC made sound like trying to adjust for a few seconds, started car and engine raced at high idle for 8 seconds then slowed down.
I still got E022 and E070 with the service engine soon light came back on, E055 came up one time too, but also has cleared.
I tried to clear the codes, clearing them and disconnecting the battery, waiting a couple of minutes, turned back on codes still their and idle is much worst, also now when driving the transmission does not go in to 2nd and 3rd gear smoothly, seems you have to go higher speed for it to go in to gear.
I rechecked the voltage at the TPS connector still 5v from the ECM, thought maybe the connector was not seated properly, now I still have E022 code the E070 went away after I cleared the codes.
Still same problem. Did I damage the ECM? Because of the shifting problem?
