Cadillac Repair: 1997 Cadillac STS, cadillac sts, starter relay

Question
For about 2 weeks the dash was reading an error message that said "car may not restart due to security system problems". It now does not start at all. When I put the key in the ignition and try to start it, it reads "ignition disabled due to security problems". What does this mean and is there anything we can do to start this car? Please HELP???

Answer
You are having a problem with the PASS-KEY system.

Possible faults are:

Ignition key.
Ignition Lock cylinder on steering column.
Broken wire in steering column.
Starter relay.
Pass-Key module.

You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
