Cadillac Repair: parasensiter, cadillac dealership, electrical drain

Question
My 1991 cadillac deville, which has been a family car since new, has 104 thousand miles.  For the last five years I noticed that the battery wears down before its time and I have had to replace them.  I use the car  from June thru December in Massachusetts. It is garaged in the winter with battery disconnected and car on jacks.  last winter I did not do thant for many reasons.  I have been back in massachusetts since the middle of June and have not driven the car very much. In the past, I have done highwaydriving and usually average less than 5000 miles each season.  The battery died a few days ago and the AAA technican would not supply another battery.( they installed one last year). He stated that there is an electrical drain from somewhere in the car that robs the battery when the car is shut down. It was towed, flat bed, to the cadillac dealership, which services the car.  I wonder how big an expense I am facing and what to do.  I just had a new headliner put in the car last week.  It is a beautiful car, V8 engine,I feel very safe in it and would like to keep it, but must be practical.  What to do?

Answer
The first test they will do is to see how many amps the electrical system is drawing from the battery . The maximum amperage draw as if your letting the car set overnight is just over 1/2 amp (0.55). If your over this amount of draw they will have to locate the problem.
