Cadillac Repair: 1989 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac, fleetwood brougham, vacuum hoses

Question
Hi, I have a 1989 Fleetwood Brougham Cadillac, 8cl.  I had some one replace the valve cover gaskets and now my cruise control doesnt work? DId they leave off a hose or something? I cant find a vacuum diagram anywhere for 1989, do you know where i can find one?

Answer
There are no vacuum schematics.

There are 2 vacuum hoses that attach to the cruise control diaphram in the engine compartment.

1. One hose should have constant vacuum when the engine is running. Disconnect it and see if there is vacuum.

The other hose is for the dump valve at the brake pedal. Disconnect it at the diaphram and try and blow air thru the hose, You should NOT be able to.

You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information. Take some pictures of the vacuum diaphram and the hoses and e-mail them to: onlineautohelp@msn.com
