Cadillac Repair: overheating, heater hoses, alternator pulley

Question
hi you doing i have a 1984 Cadillac deville i haven't change any part on it but the disconnected the hoses from the top and bottom of the radiator and flush it out. I'm thinking maybe it will help before i buy another water pump but how will i know if its working i see the fluids will go down then i add more and then it will just sit there bubbles will come up then it will start pushing water out and when i shut the car off the water starts to flow out should i just  get a water pump

Answer
If you get HEAT from the heater vents inside the vehicle and one of the heater hoses is EXTREMLY HOT and the other slightly cooler this will indicate that the water pump is working.

One thing you want to check which EVERYONE misses. Can you turn the alternator pulley around in circles using your hands ONLY and is it move fairly easy ?.
