Cadillac Repair: trunk button, electrical drawing, fuse box

Shut my keys in the trunk of my 89' Brougham.  Went to use the trunk button
but it is not working.  Does the car need to be on for the button to work?  Any
other options to get that trunk open?

YES, The ignition switch must be ON for the trunk release to operate.

I can provide you with a simple electrical drawing whereas you would put battery voltage from the fuse box to the trunk release button fuse so you can open the trunk via the interior button. You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture.
