Cadillac Repair: seville SLS charging probmlem and current draw....., cadillac seville sls, 1998 cadillac seville

Question
Hi, Bill

I was asking about a 1998 Cadillac Seville sls that has a current draw, after much head scratching I found that the trunk pull down motor runs all the time after the trunk is closed, I pulled the fuse and the draw was less and the antenna fuse there seem to be a small draw also, I will tell you Bill I did not have a fully charged batter at the time only about 9.5 to 10.0 volts I'm not sure what the non running draw should be I was thinking in the mili volts.........I pulled the pull down fuse and the draw dropped down and also the antenn fuse what do you think?

Answer
FIRST you need to charge the battery to full capacity BEFORE we can perform any tests.

There are common problems with the pull down motors running all the time and also with the antenna motors running all the time.

Maximum amperage draw on the battery when fully charged is .50 to .55 amps. (1/2 amp).

You will need simple electrical schematics, Test procedures and picture locations of the components within the system that is causing you problems of which can't be done on this website which only allows one picture. I do not have a website so you will have to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com in order to obtain the information.
