hi, on a 85 deville how can you tell if the camshaft is bad

Answer
You usually have low compression on two cylinders. The only way to prove it is to remove the valve covers and using a dial indicator measure the amount of trael of the intake and exhaust valves at the top of the valve stems. In some cases you may experience a popping noise back thru the throttle body as if you had a bad valve.
