Cadillac Repair: 1990 Cadillac Deville no start, cadillac deville, intermittent problem

Question
I have a 90 Deville that has an intermittent problem.  It will not crank when the key is turned. Everything else appears normal. After setting for a couple of hours, it starts normally and runs fine.  Temperature doesn't seem to affect it, and you don't know when it is coming.  The prompt line says nothing about the theft system, and I hear no clicks or anything. I have codes E 048, E049, B120 current, and E052, R061 History.  I cannot clear codes by using the off & hi buttons, as I have read in your past postings.  Where do I look for the answer to this "ghost problem"?

Answer
Hi Dave,

A problem like yours is rather frustrateing...not knowing if you will be stranded somewhere or not.

First off the codes aren't going to help in this case. The E48 deals with the EGR valve and the E49 is an air management problem. The B120 isn't even a 1990 Deville code nor is the R061 which is a suspension code. For me to be able to help you could you doublecheck the year and model because it sounds like by the codes that it might be at least a 1994 model. Thanks, Bill
