Cadillac Repair: 1987 cadillac caimarron starts but dies, torque converter clutch, torque converter clutch solenoid

Question
what does it mean when a 1987 Cadillac cimarron dies when it is put into reverse or drive after it has been driven to another location and then shut off prior to the car cutting out?

Answer
This is a classic example of a intermittently sticking TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SOLENOID which is located under the side pan of the transmission on the valve body.

If you want to test it, locate the square white plastic 3 or 4 wire electrical connector that plugs into the transmission where the transmission bolts to the engine and see if your problem is resolved.
