Cadillac Repair: 2003 Cadillac CTS Turn Signal problem, turn signal switch, left turn signal

Question
QUESTION: Greetings, My turn signal stopped working on my 2003 CTS Cadillac. There is no light on the dash. It acts like nothing happens when I turn on the left turn signal.  The right one works ok. It will work for two or three months then will stop.  It will work on and off. It seems like the hotter the weather is the more it will not work.

ANSWER: Gremlins ?.

Since it is an intermittent problem if it were my vehicle I would replace the turn signal flasher located up under the dash near the steering column.

Be careful NOT to replace the hazards flasher by mistake. Remove the flasher you think is the turn signal and see if the hazards still work.

QUESTION: Thank you for your response. Even though the right turn signal works all the time could it still be the flasher? Don't they work off the same flasher? Just wondering.

Answer
yes, They do but sometimes the flasher gets gremlins. Are you POSITIVE that ALL your turn signal lights are working both front and rear ?.

Put the hazards ON and make sure that you have NO burnt out bulbs especially at the rear.

It IS possible that you have a fault in the steering wheel turn signal switch. If you are POSITIVE taht you have NO burnt out hazard lights, E-mail me at: onlineautohelp@msn.com and I can provide some simple test procedures to see if it is indeed the switch in the steering wheel.
