Cadillac Repair: Security system restart problem, exact letters, word history

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1997 STS and I had to replace a dead battery.  Now, the scroll says that theft system problem car may not restart. I called the 800 # and did what she said to do...nothing.  I then called the service center and he said what she had me do was for 1998 and newer--so it would not work.  It turns over, but does not start.  So now what??!!  Is there something we are all overlooking?

ANSWER: What did they tell you to do ?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: The lady (800 #)said to turn the key to unlock in the drivers door and hold it for a few seconds.  The guy at the dealer said he was not sure since the display was not stating "fault", but "problem".  It turns over but doesn't fire--he listenedd to me try it--thinks it might be a fuel pump problem---but cannot explain why the display say: security problem...car may not restart.  A different tech said to hold the key in the ignition on accessories for ten minutes, then it should start.  Another guy said to hold the key in the 3/4 position for ten min--again, nothing.  The security problem keeps scrolling across after we try everything!!  The chip is solid in the key, and it tries (kind-of) to start, so the second male said that the key/chip/ignition wasn't/aren't the problem.  Does that help you at all, I hope?!!  I am getting frustrated because I have been storing it each winter, and am anxious to get rolling! Thank you!  Jill

Answer
You need to access the computers and see what fault CODES display.

1. turn ignition ON. Do NOT start the engine.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (the one to increase the heat) for 3 seconds and release them.

3. On the fuel data display you will see LETTERS & NUMBERS being displayed along with the word HISTORY or CURRENT and then the display will stop at PCM?

4. I need to know the EXACT LETTERS & NUMBERS displayed along with the word HISTORY or CURRENT for each code.

5. turn ignition off.
