Cadillac Repair: 1996 cadillac sedan deville, cadillac sedan deville, pcm 5

Question
the car starts and runs fine until the car gets heated up and  it says service emission systems and the car will still run fine until it is shut off and started again and then it seems like the emissions is choking the car out and it wont stay running but when i let the car cool off for around 2 hours it will start and run fine again until it gets warmed up again and shut off and started back up and then it happens again and it will do fine when it is cold out but on warm days it messes up real bad do you know what could be causing this?

Answer
What you have is most likely a sensor and or emissions module failure.

Perform this test:

1. Turn ignition switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the engine.

2. On the climate control panel you will see an OFF and A WARMER (fan up) button. Simultaneously push and hold these 2 buttons for 3 seconds and then release them.

3. Look at your fuel data display panl and you will see LETTERS & NUMBERS appearing together along with either the word HISTORY or CURRENT.

4. The display will stop and display PCM?

5. Turn ignition OFF.

6. Tell me EXACTLY what displays on the fuel data panel EXACTLY as if you were video taping it. If you can video tape it, E-mail it to: onlineautohelp@msn.com.
