Cadillac Repair: not starting, flywell, car wont start

Hi, my car wont start.  Its like when I turn it over it just clicks.  Someone came by and looked at it briefly and said  "Its the starter or the flywell".  How can you tell which one I need and I have tried to look up flywell an come up with nothing?
