Cadillac Repair: 95 Caddy deville instr. cluster black....., latch motor, digital speedometer

Question
The instrument cluster panel on my 95 caddy deville doesn't show any of the gauge readings.  When I open the door I get the Security flashing in the upper left corner then it goes away when I crank it up. Then right after I crank it up, the AirBag, antilock and service engine soon lights come on and then go away after it cranks. Then the panel is black and then about a minute later the defroster comes on and stays on.  None of the HVAC controls work.  I have no idea where to even start to solve these problems.  I tried to get the code numbers by holding the OFF button and the Warm button.  I got nothing.  Everything else appears to be working properly except the Trunk latch motor quit working and I disconnected that, I open it manually with the key. I have read some of the questions and answers pertaining to this or similar problems, so far still no help.  This car was given to me and I can't afford to take it to a Mechanic.  If you have any suggestions I will appreciate it greatly, Thanks, Mike

Answer
There are some simple test procedures that you can do to diagnose and fix your problem which is one of these component faults:

This would be for a DIGITAL speedometer vs an ANALOG speedometer.

Instrument cluster.

Climate control display.

Fuel gage display.

BCM (Body Control Module) computer.

Is there any of these numbers or symbols displayed in the fuel data panel or any other display panel ?:

-c
-d
-151
