Cadillac Repair: 89 Cadillac Fleetwood, cadillac fleetwood, amp meter

QUESTION: Hi, My daughters grandfather bought her this car about a month ago and just the other day the service engine light came on as well and the fuel and heater displays a letter "C". She can not adjust the heat or blower nor can she see the amount of gas she has. HELP! The shop is way to expensive for us right now.

ANSWER: Replace the BCM (Body Control Module) which is fairly simple to do.

QUESTION: I do have one other question. If the battery is dead which it is could it be causing this issue alone?

This can be caused by any number of things. You would have to recharge the battery and put an amp meter on the battery cable to see how much draw is being pulled from the battery. The maxumum amount is just over 1/2 amp with the car sitting as if you were leaving it set overnight.
