Cadillac Repair: 94 sedan deville 4.9 trans wont engage, brake master cylinder, coolant hose

Question
i have a 94 sedan deville 4.9 andi was hanging at a friends house when i went out to my cadillac and the battery was dead. i jumpstarted it and drove to another friends house and replaced the battery (didnt do the start up routine) i drove it off and about a mile later the trans stopped engaging, i looked under the hood and there was a loose coolant hose over the back of motor. i tightened it and tried to unhook the battery and do the start up ritual with no luck.... what do you think the issue is? im in the army and dont get paid much so i need a cheap fix if possible

Answer
Can't see any connection between the leaky hose and the transmission not engaging.

Make sure that the transmission rod is moving on top of the trans just below the brake master cylinder.

There is an electrical switch on top of this rod that engages the transmission. Did this switch get WET from the anti-freeze leak ?.
