Cadillac Repair: Cadillac fan stays on on with no control, engine temp, intermittent fault

Question
QUESTION: I have a 1993 caddy eldo, with a 4.9l engine, no control over any of heater/AC.  it stays on high and blows out cold air unless you stop the engine.  then when you first turn on the key with out the engine it may get a little warm then back to cold, and it makes a noise somewhere, near the glove compartment.  there is no engine temp, but there is oil and voltage all other readouts are --.  it comes on at first except the engine temp then they all go blank, except the volts and oil.  it worked one evening when real cold out then stopped(engine temp) It was low on anti-freeze But I then filled it up.

ANSWER: What you have is an intermittent fault in the DATA LINE between the instrument panel cluster and the HEATER/AC PROGRAMMER.

What you need to do is retrieve the CODES from the computer.

1. Turn ignition ON with engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously on the climate control panel, push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) buttons for 3 seconds and release them.

3. You will see CODES appearing on the fuel data display in the form of LETTERS & NUMBERS followed by the word HISTORY or CURRENT and the display will stop and display PCM?.

4. I need to know what LETTERS & NUMBERS APPEAR and if the word HISTORY or CURRENT appears with each code that displays.

5. Turn ignition OFF.

QUESTION: I did what you said,
No ECM Data,
IO33,IO34,IO37 all current
No ACP Data
No SIR Data
ECM?
Not sure what to do from here, I have another 93, it's been crashed, everything works on it, so if I can I would like to change out any parts if possible thanks
Kevin

Answer
IO33 = Loss of air bag system data.

IO34 = Loss of PCM (computer data)

IO37= Loss of AC/Heater programmer data.

This will require simple test procedures BEFORE replacing any parts.
