Cadillac Repair: fuel tank, tide laundry detergent, filter need

Question
My car has been sitting outside for about 2 years, I live in Michigan.  My gas tank was empty, I recently started driving it and I have had to put a new fuel filter on it daily for the past week I believe my gas tank is rusted, or contaminated with ?? .  If I take the gas tank off and drain it, what would I clean it with?  Or, do I have to take it off?  Or, could there be a different problem that keeps clogging the fuel filter.  The fuel filter is located in the carb.  The car will start if I put gas in the carb, and sometimes will stall out, and the filter need to be replaced, then put gas in the carb, and will run the the day, but then the filter clogs up and needs replaced.  I have had to replace the filter daily.

Answer
Remove the fuel tank and use TIDE laundry detergent that comes crystalized in a box, Do NOT use the liquid as you need the abrasiveness of the powder and fill the gas tank with water and shake it up and let it set for a day or 2 and then drain out and flush the fuel tank and re-install it.

Install a new fuel filter and this should resolve your problem unless you have an exceptionally rusted fuel tank of which then you will have to replace.
