Cadillac Repair: Replace wiper switch 2002 Seville, independent repair, diy project

Question
QUESTION: The dealership recommended replacing the wiper switch when the wipers would not stop. I have the part and would like to give it a try myself before paying someone else. Is there an easy way to remove the steering column panels to get to the switch without messing up the "clips" that keep all those plastic panels fitting snuggly together? I don't want the car to look like someone broke into it and tried to steal it... Thanks!

ANSWER: Vilma,
No, there isn't. That repair is NOT a simple one. Matter of fact it pays 2.1hrs. flat-rate time. I wouldn't recommend this as a DIY project.

QUESTION: Thank you for the prompt response. I guess the only question now, given the degree of difficulty, is whether the fix should be performed by the local Caddy dealer or a reputable body shop on this area. I trust both, and the price difference for 2.1 hrs. is almost double.

Answer
Vilma,
Not to say that a body shop CAN'T handle the repair but it's really NOT their specialty. An independent repair shop would probably be a better bet but the dealer would be my #1 choice due to their higher level of training and being more likely to have experience with this exact repair on YOUR car.
