Cadillac Repair: My gear shift wont budge..., cadillac deville, 2000 cadillac deville

I stopped the car, put it in park, and then tried to zoom off in my 2000 Cadillac Deville. However,the gear shift wouldn't budge. It's night time, I'm in an awkward place, and I have no idea what to do!!! Please help me!!!

Hi Sonia,

      The thing that sometimes works is to turn the key almost to the point that the dash lights light and when that happens the shifter might be able to be taken out of park. Then start the engine in neutral and shift into drive and off you go. If you look in your owners manual there might be an override button that I'm not aware of but give that a try. Otherwise you could call Cadillac Roadside Assistance at 1-800-882-1112 and they might have another idea or be able to send a tech to the car and get you going. If the tech does come out to your car there might be a fee depending if your car is in warranty or not.
