Cadillac Repair: digital display out, prom chip, digital dash

QUESTION:  My battery went dead and when I tryed to start it it clicked.
So I put a new battery in the car and now I have no digital dash,fuel,or climate control lights.climate control heat is also not working but clicks when buttons are pressed.
I put a rebuilt BCM and checked all fuses and the lights are still out.Can you please help?


ANSWER: Try pushing the DEFROST button with the engine running and let me know what happens.

QUESTION: I only can hear the switch turn on but still no fan and no lights,I can't even get the codes without being able to see the display.Any ideas?SOS PLEASE somebody help me.This has to be a common problem with Cadillac.

ANSWER: What is the YEAR and MODEL of the vehicle ?. Are you POSITIVE that when you got the rebuilt BCM that you told them that you had a DIGITAL dash and NOT an ANALOG ?.

Did the rebuilt come with a PROM (chip inside the computer) or did you have to remove yours and install it in the rebuilt BCM ?.

QUESTION: It is a 1992 coupe deville
The bcm has the exact same part number that my bcm was and I did use my exsisting chip.

You have one of the following faults:

BCM (just because it's new, does NOT guarantee it works).
BCM CHIP.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER.
wires to and from the cluster to the BCM.

What you need to do is test procedures with pictures of which this persons website does NOT allow pictures and visual test procedures to test the electrical connections for the cluster with the cluster removed. To obtain pictures you will need to e-mail: onlineautohelp@msn.com
