Cadillac Repair: 1995 Cadillac Deville Instrument Cluster, seatbelt light, cadillac deville

Question
QUESTION: Hi, I have a 1995 Cadillac Deville Concorse. The Instrument cluster went black. Speedo, Gear selector, etc. None on the heating controls work either. When this started to happen, it was intermittent. You would start the car and in 2-3 minutes it would all come on and be functional. Now it does not come on at all and no heating controls work again.

ANSWER: IS or HAS the check engine light ever illuminated when you were driving the vehicle when everything worked ?.

Is there any letters or numbers in any of the displays or are they ALL TOTALLY BLANK ?>

QUESTION: Hi, Yes the Check Engine Light does come on from time to time. Seems to be no rhyme or reason to it coming on. The car runs great. It will just come on here and there. The only light that appears in the instrument cluster is the Fasten Seat Belt light if you don't have the seat belt fastened...obviously. Other than that, its all black. Thanks.

ANSWER: Perform this test to retrieve the CODES from the computers.

1. Ignition ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simulatneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) buttons on your climate control panel for 3 seconds and release them.

3. In the fuel data display you will see LETTERS & NUMBERS appear and then the display will stop.

4. Tell me EXACTLY what appears on the screen as if you were video taping it.

5. Turn OFF ignition.

QUESTION: Hi, I performed the tests and no luck. No codes,no letters, etc. I pressed the "OFF" button and the "RED" Warmer buttons together as you said. With the ignition on, the Seatbelt light, Security light, and Airbag light, light up but nothing else. NO Speedo,no gear selector,no fuel, no odometer and the heating controls still do not work. Including rear defrost. Thanks.

Answer
In 90% of all cases such as this the fault is within the cluster assembly which will need to be sent out for repairs.

OR you can verify that it is actually a faulty cluster by performing some test procedures on the wire connections with the cluster removed from the vehicle if you are mechanically inclined. If you would like to perform these test procedures you will need picture directives which are not allowed on this persons website.

You can obtain them by e-mailing: onlineautohelp@msn.com or you can simply remove the cluster and send it out for repair.
