Cadillac Repair: 1994 Cadillac Seville-Wont Start, cadillac seville, ground cables

Question
When I turn the key in the ignition, it won't turn over. It clicks once, but there is no continuous clicking in an effort to turn over. It seems like the battery is dead, but all the electrical components (radio, headlights, dash, etc.) are fine and I am certain it is not simply that. I think it might be related to the chip in the key not being properly read by the car or the starter? This happened twice before, but simply waiting a few minutes and trying again made it start right up. Any ideas?

Answer
Dan,
Unless there's a "Security" or "Pass-Key Fault" light on, then I'm still likely to believe your problem is electrical in nature. Loose battery or ground cable connections, as well as a bad battery itself can cause the symptoms you suggest. Pull the battery cables off and make sure there's no corrosion, then once you're absolutely sure all battery and ground cables are clean and tight, if the car still won't start, see if it will start with a jump. If so, the battery has an internal break and should be replaced.
