Cadillac Repair: 86 Cadi Deville Sedan Interior, hemmings motor news, hemmings motor news magazine

Question
I have an '86 Cadillac Deville sedan White w/ white ragtop white leather seats and side panels and wine carpeting, the felt-like interior is hanging from the roof creating an interesting dome, and much of the interiors been torn or cracked, where might I find some replacements?

Answer
Hi Brian,

Getting replacements for a car this old might be a problem depending upon how much you want to spend. And getting the parts that are in good shape with the colors all matching and not sunfaded would be a problem unless they all came from the same car.

The headliner would be the easiest to get ahold of because you can buy the fabric at bigger autopart stores and then use the spray adhesive from permatex that has orange on the label...it seems to stick the best. The way we did it was to remove the headliner from the car. Peel off the old fabric. Spray the shell where the headliner goes with the adhesive and then press on and trim the new material.

The rest of the parts some might still be available from the dealer by ordering them. You could try you local junkyard/auto salvage/rebuilder places or go to www.junkyarddog.com and entering in the info yards across the U.S. will email what they have and cost.

The 2 best sources might be the Hemmings Motor News magazine that has quality cars for sale as well as new old stock/NOS, reproduction parts, or used parts. Or have you considered going to an automotive upholstery shop and having them redo the interior. At that point you could get creative and the total job might turn out to be very reasonable.

Those are my suggestions. Hopefully I have been of some help. Bill
