Cadillac Repair: ignition contro; module, cadillac eldorado, ac delco parts

Question
Hello, we have a 1997 Cadillac Eldorado. The car starts, you drive street/freeway, the car dies and takes about 10/20 minutes before you can drive it, then it dies again. We have replaced everything. Is it possible to have bought a bad part? How important is it to use ONLY AC Delco parts?

Answer
You can use any name branmd parts.

When the vehicle fails to restart as soon as it shuts off immediately check to see if you are losing spark to the spark plugs or fuel to the engine.

The easiest way to determine if your losing fuel is to have a can of starter fluid and as soon as the car stops give it a shot of starter fluid and see if it makes an attempt to start.

HAS or IS the check engine light ever illuminated while driving the vehicle and if it hAS, you need to check for fault CODES stored in the computers.

To check for fault CODES:

1. Ignition switch ON. Engine OFF.

2. Simultaneously push and hold the OFF and WARMER (^) (fan up) button for 3 seconds and release them.

2a. If you have an analog speedometer display (the older needle speedometer Usu the OFF and PASSENGERS WARMER buttons.

3. Codes will display in the form of LETTERS & NUMBERS followed by the word HISTORY or CURRENT after each code displays on your fuel data display and will stop at PCM?

4. Tell me EXACTLY what appears as if you were video traping the display and when it stops at PCM?, Shut OFF the ignition.
